Colorado state law through Amendment 20 to the State Constitution specifies a large number of diseases and conditions for which medical marijuana is allowed, these include:

  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS positive
  • Cachexia (wasting/weight loss/muscle atrophy/significant loss of appetite)
  • Severe pain
  • Severe nausea
  • Seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy
  • Persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

Or any other medical condition, or treatment for such condition, approved by the state health agency. In addition, patients and physicians may submit petitions to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to include other medical conditions that may be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana.
